1. Emergency Preparedness 101
- 1 - 1.5 Hours course
- SUMMARY: This course will show you what you need to prepare for and why its important to prepare for an emergency. This course in a lunch hour will teach you what type of emergencies you need to prepare for, what information to gather to be prepared, building a family communications plan and building a Emergency GO kit.
2. Emergency Preparedness 201
- 1 – 1.5 Hours course on building a Bug out Bag (BOB)
- SUMMARY: This course will show you the basic of building a bug out bag and why its important to have one. It will show you how to create self-contained disaster preparedness kit to help you survive an emergency for 72 hours. This bug out bag is for the first 72 hours of an emergency only. You will get a bug out bag checklist that tells you what to pack and resource list to help you find the gear to fill your bug out bag.
3. Financial Preparation Kit 101
- 1 – 1.5 hour course on preparing your financial information for an emergency
- SUMMARY: This course will teach you how to build a financial preparedness kit to include things like household identification, financial and legal documentation, medical information and contact information for family and friends. If you have to leave your household quickly in case of emergency and your house was destroyed along with all your financial information how will you rebuild it? This and many other questions we will answer in building this financial preparedness kit.
4. Water Storage
- 2 hour course on preparing water storage.
- SUMMARY: This course will teach you how to store water for long periods of time and how to keep it clean and not tasting bad. It will cover how much water should I store, what types of containers to use, filters and purification methods.
5. Food types and storage
- 1.5 hour course on food types and how to store it.
- SUMMARY: This course will cover these fundamental food questions: How much food should I store? What types of food should I store? How should I store it? How long will the stored food last? These questions and more will be covered in this course to better prepare you for an emergency and help you create a emergency food storage plan.
Communication Section:
1. Emergency & Disaster Communications

- Have you ever wondered how you will be able to communicate with family and friends during an emergency or disaster? In this 50-minute course, Communications Expert and Minnesota-based ARES Emergency Coordinator, Kevin Haney, teaches what options are available as well as a crash-course for how to use them. Learn the differences between Family Radio Service (FRS), General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), and Amateur Radio (HAM) devices as well as the basics of how to use each one in an emergency. This course provides a solid overview about what forms of communications are available during an emergency and what cellular apps can be used to keep family and friends informed.
2. Satellite Communications in the Wilderness (FUTURE)
- With the use of cellular communications today can cover us for communicating with anyone, anywhere anytime of day or night but what happens when that cellular network fails. Satellite phones and communicators today work anywhere in the world without any land based infrastructure. There are locations today in the United States that are NOT covered by cellular towers. The use of Satellite phones & communicators is even more affordable these days and per minute costs of using them is now more affordable.
- I will cover and show you how to use the satellite phone and communicator from turning it on, using the emergency assistance button and how to use it in the wilderness.
